AP World History Unit 9 Deep-Dive Practice Tests

Globalization is not one story. These assessments separate environmental governance, human mobility, human-rights institutions, and food systems so you can practice the evidence and reasoning each problem requires.

Why Unit 9 needs narrower practice

Students often know the vocabulary of globalization but lose points when they treat every development as proof that the world simply became “more connected.” A stronger historical answer identifies what moved, who controlled the movement, which institutions shaped it, and who gained or absorbed the costs. A climate agreement, a refugee flow, a human-rights court, and a supermarket supply chain are all transnational, but they operate through very different mechanisms.

Use these tests after the broader Unit 9 practice library. Start with the topic where your evidence is weakest. Afterward, compare your misses across tests: environmental questions often turn on collective-action problems, migration questions on legal status and networks, rights questions on enforcement and sovereignty, and food questions on production, distribution, labor, and consumer demand.

A four-part framework for globalization evidence

First, identify the actor. Is the evidence about a state, corporation, international organization, NGO, migrant household, consumer, or local movement? Second, identify the mechanism. Trade, law, communication, migration, finance, technology, and environmental change connect societies differently. Third, identify the scale. A global process may still produce sharply local outcomes. Fourth, identify the limit. Globalization does not erase sovereignty, inequality, geography, or political conflict.

This framework is especially useful for stimulus-based questions because it keeps you from choosing an answer that is broadly true about globalization but not actually supported by the evidence in front of you.

How to sequence these tests

If you want a cause-and-effect sequence, begin with Global Food, Agriculture & Consumer Networks to see how technology and markets reorganized production. Move to Global Migration, Refugees & Diasporas to examine how people moved through the same unequal global system. Then use Human Rights, NGOs & International Law to study efforts to regulate state behavior, and finish with Climate Change & Environmental Governance, where collective-action problems bring economics, science, inequality, and diplomacy together.

Do not rush from one score to the next. The value of targeted practice comes from correcting the historical relationship you missed and then testing whether you can recognize that relationship in a different setting.
